Pink is the New Pink, Says Pantone for 2014

Pink is the new Pink Radiant Orchid

Pink is the new pink, made official by Pantone for 2014! Pink is always our color of the year, but we don't use it in our branding and website design because our audience is male and female. But for men, a pink shirt is often a sign of money. The Wall Street Journal points out that Pantone's "Radiant Orchid" is on everything from Keurigs to nailpolish to Converse shoes. And look at this kitchen! So perhaps we should weave a pink highlight onto the site to keep with this year's trend.

What about you? Have you used "Radiant Orchid" pink in any of your products or packaging this year?

I am a professional safety speaker, I blog, I write for publications and I am television news contributor who speaks about crime and safety topics. My logo is pink and black. My branding caricature/image is me wearing black and spraying a pink pepper spray.

My market is male and female. However, safety is typically considered a female-oriented topic. I like for people to know that I am woman since my name could be either sex. It helps my audience to know that they can identify with me, and I with them. Pink seems to be a good indicator for this purpose.

I also teach real estate agent safety and have a designation program. The program's logo is pink and black. I produce the certificates in pink and black and have had no issue with men not liking the strong colors.

When people see pink in the safety and security industry, they will think of me, "Tracey, the Safety Lady".

I think pink is a bold color. You must be confident to use it. You will certainly stand out!
