Entrepreneurs Share what they are Thankful for this Holiday Season (Part One)

Though the holiday was officially Thanksgiving this past weekend, from watching the social media newsfeeds and televison reports, you'd think we were celebrating all things shopping and the "Feast of All Things on Sale".

While we celebrate holidays that bring dollars to the doors (brick & mortar and virtual) of small business owners, we think everyone could use a reminer as to what the theme of the Thanksgiving season truly is: gratitude.

With that we give you a look at what some of our own Tin Shingle members are thankful for this holiday season!

Small Business Gratitude...."I'm thankful for..."

  • Loving my work and my clients….Focusing on my work helped me deal with and overcome cancer this year.  I am very blessed to do what I love to do. Carolyn Akel (pictured above), Akel Ventures

  • I am very thankful for my supportive friends & family, as well as my incredible team! I am also thankful to work with business owners and entrepreneurs who are as passionate about their businesses, as I am about PR.  Connie Wong, Moderne Press

  • I am thankful for the people that have come in and ironically out of my life.  I would be lost without the support and encouragement that I receive from loved ones daily. I appreciate the influence of like minded friends and the determination I am able to find within myself each day.  Nadia Murdock, NadiaMurdockFit.com and Manchester Public Relations

  • I am so thankful that I have the support of my family, friends and customers! This year I was able to take my handmade jewelry business full-time (after “overnight” success of over 10 years) and am living the dream of being self-employed. It’s so empowering to own my own business – it is really forcing me to think about what makes me happy and how to best spend my time. I love it and I love being a part of the small business community!  Peggy Li, Peggy Li Creations

  • I'm thankful that I chose to have it all. My career is expanding. My house semi-survived the store. Best of all, I'm expecting my first child. Business before boyfriends and babies is one of the worst lines I've ever heard. My successes are that much sweeter thanks to the man I get to share them with. I'm grateful I made room for it all!  Pamela Pekerman, Pamela Pekerman Productions, On-air expert, brand spokesperson.

  • This year is special since I had 2 family members displaced from their homes because of sandy, I am truly thankful they are safe and getting their lives and homed back in order slowly. I am thankful for good health and happiness in my life and family around me. I am forever thankful for my fortunate life and to have the opportunity to wake up every single morning to do what I adore. Dawn Del Russo, Stylist & On-Air Fashion Expert

  • I'm thankful for my passion because it has led me to create Hello Perfect and enabled me to find something I absolutely love doing. It continues to help me grow and motivates me to accomplish my dreams. Passion is what ignites the unique fire within us all.  Alexa Carlin, Hello Perfect.

  • I am thankful for a supportive and loving family. Trustworthy and honest friends. An understanding and kind boyfriend and a cat whose lymphoma is under control and is hopefully on her way to remission and that my hard work is starting to really pay off because of my help from Tin Shingle!!  Emily Elizabeth Kolins, Emily Elizabeth Jewelry
