I have a little confession to make...as a result of intensively working on a nonprofit construction project, I have (almost) man hands. Yes, it is embarassing; they are dry, tired, sometimes even cracked, and I am sure aging at some horrible speed. Who of us though, has time EVERY week, let alone budget allowance, to make a spa appointment, clear our schedules, drive to said spa, and be pampered?! Help is here...Deanna Montrose, creator of gLOVE Treat, has developed a miracle product for all of us busy entreprenuers, moms, and superwomen!
gLOVE Treat is a paraffin wax treatment for hands and feet that is efficient, effective, and affordable. Did I also mention it can be done in the comfort of your own home!? The new unique technology allows the paraffin formula and essential oils to penetrate deep into skin providing a stronger moisture absorbtion and amazing results. Montrose has over 20 years in the beauty industry owning multiple succsessful salons and spas through the years. She also has been educated around the world by Vidal Sasoon, Jingles, and Bumble and Bumble. Deanna now shares her drive, dedication, and journey with us shinglers in this weeks #SmallBizSpotlight.
What inspired you to get started?
I have been in my industry (Salon and Spa) for over 25 years. The paraffin area of my industry has always driven me crazy. A cumbersome pot, with long melt times, and in order to keep it sanitary you need to ladle into gloves...which is quite messy. For the last 5 years I had thought there must be a better way! Three years ago I began working on a solution. We just received our patent and we are quite excited!
What is your background? Was it what you are doing now?
My background is I am a licensed Cosmetologist and Salon Owner. I have owned Salon/Spas most of my career which has been 25 years. So this was a part of what I do in the salon.
What challenge have you had to face that lead to a big growth for your company?
To create gLOVE Treat, there have been many hurdles due to the fact that this method has never been done before. I am quite wise to ingredients and what was needed to create a wonderful skin treatment, but to produce the glove and figure out the method was quite difficult.
I also wanted a safety mechanism so I could be ensured that our customers would always have a safe experience with the treatment. gLOVE Treat heats in a microwave in 2 minutes, so I began a search for the best system to sensor our heat. I own a salon and work full time, so all of this was done on my "free" time.
Finding manufacturers was also complex, as no one had made this product before. Through research, much travel and testing, we had gLOVE Treat after 18 months. Our current hurdle is getting the word out and creating a sales stream. We are excited and have launched on hautelook on June 15th, so we are truly just growing.
What do you have going on in your bussiness right now that you are really excited about?
We are putting together a team of sales reps to move our product though our industry. We also are working on putting together our own factory.
Where would you like to see your business in five years?
I would love to see my product in salons, spas, nail salons, resorts and brick and mortar stores throughout the world.
