Melissa is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Advertising program.  A native of Chicago, she worked in account management at prominent advertising agencies for over six years before heading to NYC to start her career in fashion. Earning her second degree at Parsons The New School of Design, studying Fashion Design, she has been able to fuse her fashion and marketing background to take on every opportunity that New York has to offer. From event production, sales, writing, styling and consulting, Melissa’s skills are diverse.

 Now, her focus is on up-and-coming brands. As the NY Emerging Designer columnist on Examiner.com and founder of a new blog called The Emerging Designer, she finds working with rising talent a thrill.

She also produces events and has worked on global projects like the Independent Handbag Designer Awards hosted by InStyle and Handbag Designer 101 andSocial Media Week New York and Chicago. Melissa is an instructor at FIT and consults fashion brands and small businesses.
