Shepherdess/Proprietress in Shaftsbury, Vermont

I write, farm, bake and educate from a 20-acre farm where I primarily raise fiber producing animals, host workshops and events, and pine for more hours in a day, or more days in a week.

When I graduated from higher education in the 80s, I took my Business degree and immediately enrolled in a floral design school to learn the art of floristry.  I managed shops for other florists until I was a stay-at-home mom, then worked out of the home as an event florist.

I home-educated my children for 10 years, utilizing my grad school coursework, and it was while we studied that we began farming our property, turning it from hobby farm into production farm today.

My three children are adults and the bulk of the farming responsibility is mine, while my husband helps on the weekends.

You will find me, on any given day of the year, at our farm, surrounded by pets, projects, livestock, pie-baking, and folk of all sorts.

A note about pie-baking:  My grandmother taught me to make the recipe that wins the world.  I make pies in my sleep.  It is not unusual to arrive and find me baking in my night kitchen to prepare flaky, fruit-filled deliciousness for area businesses.

My favorite past times are writing and spinning(wool) and some day, when I'm not farming, I'll do more of both.
