Andy Jackson has been working since 2002 in real estate consulting, structural engineering, and project management. He is the owner of Jackson Engineering in Portland, Maine.

Prior to moving to Maine, Andy worked at Arup in San Francisco and New York City on airports, hospitals, and tall buildings. His projects include the United States Air Force Memorial, Raleigh-Durham International Airport Terminal C, and UC-Davis Medical Center.

As a project manager at The Hudson Companies, a residential real estate developer in New York City, he was responsible for day-to-day project management, including coordinating with the design & construction teams and working with the marketing and legal teams to ensure timely, successful, and cost-effective completion of new construction and adaptive re-use projects. His projects include The Knick Condominium and Roosevelt Island Retail redevelopment. He has served as lead design engineer and project manager responsible for establishing and monitoring schedules, budgets and quality control on projects with construction costs of up to $20 million.

 

Andy received his BA in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Architecture and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He has taught courses in architecture and construction at New York University, New York Institute of Technology, and the University of California at Berkeley.

 

 

He lives on Peaks Island, Maine with his wife, Mira Ptacin, a writer, and their two dogs, Maybe & Huckleberry.
