Candice Bolbach LCSW is a New York State licensed Psychotherapist and Life Management Specialist currently in private practice with offices in Manhattan and Chappaqua, NY. MS Bolbach is the creator of “The Hidden Box Experience” a coaching program utilizing metaphor and visualization to accelerate ones awareness, resolve core issues that inhibit reaching life goals and provides a vehicle to reach success. Ms. Bolbach is in the process of writing her book “The Hidden Box Experience”

Her expertise includes working with adults who suffer from long term history of alcohol and substance abuse issues, adolescents who self mutilate, bereavement work, couples counseling, life transitional and relationship issues such as the loss of a spouse, divorce and career change.

Education and Training
Ms. Bolbach graduated from The College of New Rochelle as a Psychology Major with Honors; she earned her master’s degree in Social work at Yeshiva University Wertzweiler School of Social Work in Manhattan. Ms. Bolbach wrote her Thesis on “Adolescents Who Self Mutilate “and the correlation to childhood abuse.

She attended a three-year postgraduate program The Gestalt Institute for Psychotherapy and trained as a psychotherapist with concentration on Personality Disorders and Substance Abuse.

She also attended a training program with Albert Ellis at the Albert Ellis Behavioral Institute,

She is certified by the State of New York in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling.

She completed an internship at Yonkers General in the Out Patient Substance Abuse Program. She also interned at Four Winds Hospital in The Adolescent Day Program for adolescents with substance abuse issues and/or who self mutilated using Cognitive DBT and Psychodynamic approach. She also interned at The Renaissance Program for substance abuse.

Background Information and Employment History

Ms. Bolbach is a Corporate Motivational Speaker and a Communications Specialist.
She is the Creator and Founder of ‘The Hidden Box” Wellness & Motivational Goal Setting Seminars” featured in the New York Times. She facilitates these seminars in private as well as in corporate group settings,

Ms. Bolbach was program director for Westchester Hispanic Coalition, The Renaissance Project, and Work-Link (Yonkers Rehab). While working in this capacity first at Work-Link Ms. Bolbach developed programming to meet the criteria for The Welfare To Work Incentive. The program targeted individuals with long standing issues of alcohol and substance abuse and criminal behavior who had been incarcerated and or on the welfare roster. The goal of this program was to provide insight into behaviors; techniques and tools to help the clients to gain awareness maintain sobriety and employment.

To accomplish this incentive Ms. Bolbach developed a fifteen-day program coined Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation (DVE). The therapeutic orientation of this program was based on a Cognitive Behavioral approach. She worked with top New York Government Officials and decision makers in various Corporations to create career opportunities for the participants after graduating from this program.

As Director of programming at the above agencies Ms Bolbach was also in charge of supervising therapeutic clinicians. She facilitated therapeutic groups, therapeutic alcohol and substance abuse counseling to her client’s one on one and in a group setting.

As Director she also worked on behalf of her clients within the court systems, Judges, NYS Probation Department and Drug Court Representatives making recommendations and also providing intervention as an alternative to prison time.

Ms. Bolbach played a major role in her capacity as Program Director to research, find, develop and write grants to meet the needs of the agency ‘s clients in an effort to further enhance their opportunity for success such as, to stay clean and sober and return to mainstream society.

As Program Director at The Westchester Hispanic Coalition Ms. Bolbach help to find and write Grants to support English as a Second Language Education and Skill training for participants. She interacted with New York State Immigration Officials and State Government officials to advocate for clients and receive further programming as well as working with high level Corporation Executives to develop employment opportunities for clients. In this capacity she also worked to plan and implement major fund raising events to enhance agencies revenue.

Ms. Bolbach was a volunteer as a part of the team efforts for the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center disaster working with family members of Cantor Fitzgerald. She initially provided crisis intervention and later set up and facilitated bereavement-counseling groups throughout the New York area for family members.

Ms Bolbach is a representative of CIGNA Behavioral Health Employee Assistance Program since 2001 facilitating Wellness Seminars for various corporations throughout the New York area. She also provides one on one coaching services for companies employees who participate with CIGNA.
