Having left a successful consulting career in the 1990s to pursue her passion for interior design, Tamara Magel worked for a number of prestigious design companies including Sotheby's and Ralph Lauren before creating Tamara Magel Home, Inc. in 2000. Based in New York, NY and Washington D.C. Tamara received her B.S. from Boston University’s School of Management and a Degree in Interior Design from the CorcoranSchoo lof Art.

After working in the industry for over 10 years, Tamara is parlaying her design expertise into home fashion and fashion.

With a belief that interior design, like fashion, can change with the seasons, Tamara utilizes neutral furniture pieces and alters home accessories throughout the year. Having already created a number of custom furniture lines, the natural next step was to delve into home and fashion accessories. Inspired by runway couture, her vision was to bring fashion into furniture and vice versa.

This year, Tamara launched her “gothic luxury” line, which merges luxurious textiles such as upholstery leather, mohair and cashmere with fashion-inspired icons and a variety of embellishments such as embroidery, beading and, metalwork.

The first season of icons includes skulls, wings, flowers and crosses, presented with a softer design style and a light color palette. The icons are featured on carpets, leather benches, headboards, cashmere throws, boots, handbags, and other home and fashion accessories.

Her Clothing collection will be debuting at The Cove, Atlantis, in the Bahamas, January 2010.

Tamara has the utmost respect for the environment and tries to utilize the cleanest approach for materials when launching her products.

One of Tamara’s long-term goals is to assist in enabling women in developing countries to create better lives for themselves and their communities. Tamara Magel sits on the Board of Directors for an international nonprofit called Nest (buildanest.com). And a % of all Product Sales are donated.
