Melissa Meyers created AskMelissa as a hobby, when she started emailing her friends and family her “best kept secrets” about products and services. Meyers was “the friend” everyone would go to for advice about the hottest new fashion looks, the best new exercise class, the hairstylist only she knew about, the place to vacation. When someone needed to know something to enhance their lifestyle, they would just “ask Melissa.” So, she opened her little black book and started sharing her resources with her AskMelissa emails. Word spread quickly about her great picks, and her subscriber list kept growing.

Today, AskMelissa is a multimedia lifestyle brand, with a complimentary email subscription and web site catering to women in the New York tri-state area. AskMelissa emails cover fashion, beauty, health & fitness, culture & media, epicurean, travel, and more. In February, AskMelissa will launch its national digital fashion and lifestyle magazine, PageDaily—it will mimic the look of a fashion glossy. Subscribers will get a “page” a day combining the best of the web and the best of a print magazine, offering the off-line experience on-line. Features will include celebrity profiles and articles by contributing editors who are experts in their fields as well as user-generated content. The web site will be searchable and archive articles by category. Users will be able to interact through blogs, view videos and instantly purchase product recommendations.

Meyers’ passion is to help people improve their lifestyle by saving them time and money. She and her discriminating editorial team do all the research—they sift through what is available on the market today and then present readers and viewers with AskMelissa recommendations. AskMelissa is your girlfriend with great advice, fabulous taste and list of secret resources for where to buy, what to do, who to contact. AskMelissa tells you the gift idea, the restaurant to try, the best fashion trends. Subscribers can “tell Melissa” and offer their ideas to be considered for editorial coverage as well. AskMelissa also gives readers their “social fix” by covering intriguing social events and celebrity sightings.

In addition, Meyers hosts a monthly Win the Table Best Kept Secrets Giveaway on television. Each month is tied to a particular theme, like Mother’s Day, fall fashion or holiday gift ideas, and she presents her product picks on NBC’s Weekend Today in New York. Subscribers to AskMelissa’s complimentary email subscription can then enter to win the complete assortment of products featured on the TV segment.

Meyers graduated from Syracuse University, where she studied marketing and communications. Previously, she was an associate director in marketing at Bear Stearns, where she planned special events and conferences.

Meyers’ personal life is reflected in AskMelissa. Many of the products and services she personally enjoys become the basis for editorial coverage. She collects contemporary art, is an avid athlete and health enthusiast—playing tennis, horseback riding, biking, skiing and doing yoga. She is also active in the Food Allergy Initiative charity and chairs their raffle committee. She resides in New York with her husband and two children and their dog.
