Santa Clara, California – May 7, 2017 - In the shadow of Silicon Valley technology behemoths Apple, Google, and Facebook, one Santa Clara teacher is traversing a more low-tech route hoping to make teachers’ lives across the country a bit more pleasant and maybe even a lot more fun. Teacher’s Pet™, a fluffy Muppet-esque whiteboard eraser with big eyes is the latest and greatest whiteboard eraser on the planet, according to inventor Dave Smedley, president of Deep Dealz LLC in Santa Clara.
Smedley, a special education teacher at Santa Clara High School, developed the Teacher’s Pet™ in response to years of frustration over cheap, disposable erasers that left his whiteboards—and whiteboards everywhere—looking more like a grey and swirly winter sky over the Great Plains. “Nothing that was on the market worked very well,” he said. “I was somewhat familiar with how well microfiber cleaned just from using it around our house. So, one day I brought a microfiber dishcloth to work and it seemed to work pretty well, but not nearly as good as I would have liked. After a lot more research, trial and error, and testing Teacher’s Pet™ was born.”
After determining the correct fiber ratio for maximum whiteboard cleaning and securing a manufacturer, Smedley asked friends and colleagues from around the country—from California to Vermont—to test the unique eraser last spring with very promising results. “Everyone loved it. One teacher even said that she could never find hers because most of the teachers at her school were continually “borrowing” it.”
Made from a proprietary microfiber blend, Teacher’s Pet™ eliminates the need for whiteboard sprays, thereby ridding the classroom of one more cleaning agent. It’s washable and can be air dried or thrown into the dryer on medium heat. In addition to whiteboards, Teacher’s Pet is a lifesaver as an all-around cleaning tool.
