The media is a turbulent industry. Reasons for media closures are varied. And sometimes, a media outlet can have a comeback (hello domino!!).
When Tin Shingle hears of media closures, we will post them here. Some media outlets closed a long time ago, but you may have been very busy running your business to have known.
MAGAZINE CLOSURES
PeopleStyle Watch - Online Only
PeopleStyle has since gone digital only, as of January 2018. Read all about it here at The Cut, and plan accordingly. PeopleStyle, is going the e-commerce route, so anything buyable from its pages would have a leg up.
Fit Pregnancy & Baby
According to the associate publisher at Meredith Parents Network, Fit Pregnancy & Baby is no longer being published. It will now be featured in a special section of Parents Magazine entitled Parents Baby, debuting March 2018! Look for the details of this new section in Tin Shingle's Editorial Calendars.
NYLON
The October 2017 issue will be NYLON's farewell to print editions moving fully to digital in 2018. The new publication will offer links to shop brands featured and a "page- turning" feel. Read more about the history and decision in Tin Shingle's blog.
Men's Fitness
Men's Fitness announced it will end it's print publication and fold into Men's Journal. Read more about the merge in the New York Post.
Village Voice
Despite not having the date finalized, on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, Village Voice announced it will be ending print production after 62 years. The end of an era is not a surprise as it is the way everything is moving: digital. The Voice will change focus mainly with their media presence reaching their audience daily.
DR. Oz, The Good Life - Now Quarterly
In Early 2017, Hearst announced that Dr. Oz, The Good Life will be reduced in print from 10 issues to 4. Read about the cutback in the NY Post.
Self Magazine
Believe it or not, Self Magazine has closed in late 2016 and will stop producing print editions. Despite Anna Wintour being the Articistic Director, it apparently did not hook or resonate with audiences the way it needed to. Tin Shingle wrote about it here to give you some perspective. Look for its publishing life to continue in digital.
Fitness Magazine (Meredith)
Meredith folded Fitness magazine after owning it for a decade and picking up Shape magazine from American Media Inc. Although the website is still in operation, the print mag has been replaced by Shape.

The New York Times Small Business Section Is Now "Entrepreneurship"
Although it didn't fold, New York Times has renamed the section Entrepreneurship.

Fit Pregnancy (Meredith)
Shortly after picked up by Meredith the print edition was shuttered. Then, in February 2016 Fit Pregnancy along with American Baby were combined into Fit Pregnancy & Baby.

More Magazine (Meredith) (again)
This isn't the first time that More Magazine has closed. The first time was in 2013, and despite its comeback, rumblings started in July 2015. Then in February 2016, the announcement came from Meredith, its publishing house, that More Magazine was closing. Reasons were blamed on poor advertising sales and declining readership.

A revered magazine for men's fashion, Details Magazine has closed. Low advertising revenue was the reason.

All You (Time Inc.)
A new CEO at the time used All You print magazine as his first closure since taking the job. This just after announcing the acquisition of HelloGiggles.com, an indication that Time Inc. is moving into digital territory, as pointed out by the Wall Street Journal.

Magazine Comebacks!
domino
Domino is an American home magazine which was in circulation between April 2005 and March 2009, and then relaunched as a print and digital magazine and ecommerce platform in October 2013.

TV SHOW CANCELATIONS OR CHANGES
If you have TV exposure on this or any TV show, do buy the clip for your press page. All shows and segments, no matter if they are canceled or still in production, will pull some segments from the internet. Your link to them will be a broken link in a few years. So invest in the clip and host it on your website for all to see.
Megyn Kelly
Megyn Kelly has been dropped from the TODAY Show as of Thursday, October 25, 2018 due to her "blackface" comment about Halloween costumes. See this article about what happened:

Harry Connick Jr. Talk Show
From Variety: “‘Harry is ending its run after two seasons,” a spokesperson for NBCUniversal Domestic Television told Variety. “Harry is a phenomenal talent and it’s been a great partnership working with the Fox Stations and other supportive groups on this truly unique show. Harry will continue to tape through September. For the week ending Jan. 28, the most recent for which data is available, the show averaged a 0.9 Nielsen household rating.

FABLife
FABLife was a TV talk show pioneered by Tyra Banks. According to Variety, when she pulled out in November 2015, no replacement was found. The show was canceled in January 2016, but according to Variety, is still producing the full first season with new episodes.

Meredith Vieira Show
Meredith came out with her own breakout show after years co-starring with others on the "The View," "Today" and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." After two seasons, NBC canceled the show. According to Nielsen in this article at Variety, it was "the second least popular of the 15 current syndicated talk shows" - the least popular being FABLife. Ouch. But it's still impressive on your Press page if you have a clip!

Neil Patrick Harris, "Best Time Ever"
You may not have known that Neil Patrick Harris had his own show, but he did, and it got canceled late in 2015. NBC Isn't letting the ubertalented funnyman go that easy, however, in a new deal with Harris' Prediction Productions-.

Bethenny Frankel
For a hot second, the creator of the Skinnygirl Cocktails, author of four self-help books, and reality show star, had her own TV talk show, Bethenny, in 2014. After just one season, it was canceled. In an article at US Weekly, Bethenny says she was "relieved" to learn about the cancelation, saying she was "a little over myself."

David Letterman as The Late Show Host
The last episode with David Letterman as the host of The Late Show was May 20, 2015. Dave was replaced by Stephen Colbert, formerly the host of his own show, The Colbert Report.
The Colbert Report
With much lamenting by many, the final episode of The Colbert Report was on December 18, 2014. The following year, Stephen took over as the host of The Late Show.

Jon Stewart left his show to pursue a career as a film director. Trevor Noah has replaced him.
