Sunday Girl by Amy Di Lamarra

Established in 2011, Sunday Girl by Amy DiLamarra is a jewelry brand with a vision inspired by the designer's passions including nature, painting, fashion history, and the laid back California lifestyle.   A Los Angeles transplant for the past 20 years, Amy DiLamarra finds inspiration all around her city, from the hilly Eastside full of Victorian and Craftsmen homes where she lives to the breezy beaches and cliffs of the westside.   A lover of art and fashion history, Amy trained and worked as a costume designer and also studied painting for many years. Both experiences continue to influence her work.   The Sunday Girl style is light, fun and effortless.  The pieces are both modern and timeless, are easily layered, and stand the test of time in terms of style and quality.

The Collections:

The new pieces you see here continue to explore my love of nature and history.    The Tribal Metals Collection riffs on the aesthetic of Hilltribe silver from Thailand, but incorporates motifs from other cultures and is offered in gold plated bronze rather than silver.

The Land and Sea collection continues to explore and play with nature imagery both literal and non-literal in cast pieces enhanced with the colors and textures of semi-precious stones.  In my other collections, stones themselves take center stage.  Chunky stones are mixed with gold toned brass beads to create textures and rawness evocative of ancient civilizations or archeological finds.

In all collections, I endeavor to create balance, the jewelry must be wearable first and foremost, the composition has to work and it has to feel new and fresh.

Process and Production:

All design work is done in Amy's Highland Park studio.

Sunday Girl by Amy DiLamarra uses several different processes and techniques in the jewelry.  Hand selected stones are wire-wrapped or edged in a hand-painted plating process called electroforming.   Original castings are made from hand fabricated pieces with lost wax technique and others are made from drawings rendered in 3-D.

All manufacturing and production is done in Los Angeles.   Sunday Girl employs local piece-workers and use local businesses for casting and finishing.  Stones and other materials are sourced worldwide when an item cannot be found locally.   Sunday Girl is committed to fair wages, supporting the local community by keeping and creating jobs in the US.
